Vaishno Devi, also known as Mata Rani, Trikuta, Ambe and Vaishnavi, is a manifestation of The Hindu Mother Goddess, Devi. The words "Maa" and "Mata" are commonly used in India for mother, and thus are often heavily used in connection with Vaishno Devi. Goddess Vaishnavi was formed from the combined energies of Goddess Parvati/Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati.
Vaishno Devi Mandir is a Hindu temple located in Katra at the Trikuta Mountains within the Indian State of Jammu.
The Temple is a Trek of 13Km from Base camp of Katra to Bhavan and various modes like Pony, Helicopter and ropeway are now available for the ease of devotees, however it is still recommended to climb the trek by foot.
Ever since the inception of Shrine Board in 1986, the Holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi has witnessed an ever-increasing number of devotees. The Yatra that stood at 13.96 Lakhs in the year 1986, increased to 104.95 lakhs (10.4 Million) in the year 2012, 93.24 Lakhs in the year 2013, 78.03 Lakhs in the year 2014, 77.76 Lakhs in the year 2015, 77.23 Lakhs in the year 2016 and 85.87 Lakhs in the year 2018.
Tourists and pilgrims can avail the free of charge dharamshala facility available around the main shrine area. Payment of a nominal sum for the upkeep of the dharamshala is appreciated, but not imposed. Hotels and guests houses are available in sufficient numbers at the base camp in Katra. Make sure you make prior bookings, more so, if you are making a trip during peak season between April to September.

The cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir's Katra received snowfall. It received season's first snowfall on December 27. Pilgrims cheered as fresh snow spell landscape turned milky white. Jai Mata Di !!! Nearby Hill station Patnitop about 100 km from Jammu near Katra Visuals after receiving fresh snowfall.

Best time to travel to Vaishno Devi Ji

Yatra is opened throughout the year. It depends on personal choice, based on summer greenery, winter snow clad mountains or rainy season with lot of water flowing in rivers.
Summer time - March to June is best. Rainy season time - July to September. Not so Hot not so cold - October to November. Winter time - December to February.
March to June and September to December are peak seasons and July to September is lean season when you will find less rush and good priced hotel stays.

Yatries coming from outside J&K are advised to carry COVID-19 test negative certificate from an ICMR approved Laboratory/testing facility.****Online Yatra Registration, SSVP, Accommodation, Battery Car and Helicopter booking for Yatries is available****

1. Only those pilgrims who have registered Online will be allowed.
2.   It is mandatory for the pilgrims to use ‘Arogya Setu’ Application on their Mobile Phones.
3.   Only Asymptomatic pilgrims will be allowed to undertake the yatra.
4.   Use of ‘Face Mask / Face Covers’ are mandatory.
5.   Compulsory Covid-19 Antigen testing for the pilgrims coming from outside Jammu & Kashmir.
6.   Pilgrims from District falling under Red Zones shall also undergo Covid-19 Testing and allowed to proceed only when the result is ‘Negative’.
7.   Pilgrims should wash their hands and feet frequently with soap & water and before entering the Sanctum Sanctorum.
8.   Pilgrims are required to maintain physical distancing of six feet at all times.
9.   Touching of Statues / Idols is not allowed.
10. No Mats / Blankets will be provided.
11. Face Masks / Covers, Gloves shall be properly disposed off by the pilgrims at the assigned / designated dustbins.
12. Spitting is strictly prohibited.
13. Pilgrims shall furnish their contactable details wherever asked by the officials on duty.
14. Pilgrims are advised not to stay at Bhawan after Darshans.
15. Persons above 60 years of age, person with comorbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years are advised to stay at home.
Maximum 05 nos. of Helicopter seats, one Room/05 dormitory beds, 05 Attka, one transaction of SSVP and one Poojan (Rs.11000) can be booked by a user from one Credit/Debit card in a calendar month. If a devotee books more than prescribed limit by using multi user ID and Multi Debit/Credit Cards (i.e. carries out multiple transactions more than prescribed limit from the same credit /debit card), SMVDSB reserves the right to cancel one or all the services booked with out any prior notice and refund thereof. Besides it also invites legal action.
